A generation of men and women have been devastated by the impact of HIV and AIDS across the continent of Africa. When children lose both their parents, it is often their grandmother who comes to the rescue to care for the children. Oxfam is working to support these amazing women in countries like Malawi and South Africa to help them secure food for their family, send their grandchildren to school and gain access to state support that may be available to them.

Elina Chinkani, from Malawi, pictured left, has been caring for her 3 grandchildren since their parents passed away. Oxfam is providing support to Elina to keep the children in school, and she is also on the waiting list to receive a goat from Oxfam, which will give her milk and manure for growing vegetables.
