Newest GiftsOxfam is supporting and training local communities in countries like Malawi to develop tree nurseries. The benefits of trees are huge for villages which have experienced deforestation. These nurseries will provide villagers with a variety of trees to help restore the local ecosystem and to prevent soil erosion. Training is also given to community members in skills like tree grafting (where cuttings from one tree are grafted to another to improve the tree produce) so that they can earn a living by growing fruit trees and then selling the produce for an income.
