Here's how your gift works

You choose a gift or gifts from the Oxfam Unwrapped gift selection and Oxfam Ireland will send you a gift card and fridge magnet for each separate gift. 

The gift card shows an image of the gift and includes some information about the gift itself and how it will be used. The fridge magnet is a fun little extra that the gift recipient can keep as a memento of their gift.

For postal orders and in-store, you will receive the gift card showing what you’ve bought and you can then write a message on the card before giving it to your friend or relative. Online and phone order gift cards can be left blank or we can print your message onto the card and send it directly to your recipient on your behalf.

The gift itself goes to a family or a community in the developing world who really need it.

How we spend your money

Each gift you buy represents an item that is essential to the programme work that Oxfam Ireland contributes to.

The money from your gift will go into one of four funds – Livelihoods, Humanitarian, HIV and AIDS or Campaigns and Advocacy – which then goes to fund various programmes where the gifts are used. In some cases we may sell more gifts than funds required so your money will go to a similar gift within the same programme area – e.g. if bulls were to oversell, your money will go to items such as goats, cows or other livelihood gifts.

Left it too late to send your gift?

Let your recipient know they haven’t been forgotten by sending them an Oxfam Unwrapped e-card.  The e-card will let them know you’ve bought them a gift from Oxfam Unwrapped and that it’s on its way in the post.  You can choose to send an e-card by clicking on the e-card link on the homepage or on the left hand side of all other pages.
